Install MariaDB on CentOS

MariaDB repositories doesn’t included by default on CentOS.
If you want to install MariaDB using YUM, you need to add MariaDB repository

nano /etc/yum.repos.d/MariaDB.repo

[Linux] Find/search text in file under directory

To search text in file under directory/subdirectory, for example we want to find php file under /home directory contains text “eval” in the content, we can use command :


shell [~]# find /home/ -name "*".php -type f -print0| xargs -0 egrep "eval" | uniq -c | sort -u | cut -d":" -f1 | awk '{print "Warning - please check this files " $2}' | uniq > eval.log

When updating Kernel using YUM, i got this error message :

Transaction Check Error:
  installing package kernel-2.6.32-379.14.1.lve1.1.9.9.el6.x86_64 needs 10MB on the /boot filesystem
Error Summary
-------------
Disk Requirements:
  At least 10MB more space needed on the /boot filesystem.

It means /boot partition is out of disk space. You need to verify this with the df command

[Solaris] Check CPU Speed & Memory Size

SUN OS based on UNIX, but has different structure with another linux system. For example in Linux, you can easily check CPU & Memory info using /proc/cpuinfo and /proc/meminfo, or you can check hardware information using lspci or dmidecode.

And how in SunOS?

Problem : You have an Oracle instance, and you know it’s running on the system, when you’re trying to connect using “/ as sysdba” it says the instance is idle. You know the database is up and opened, because your application’s talking to it.


[oracle@server db_1]$ sqlplus / as sysdba
SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon Sep 24 15:22:47 2012

[CentOS] Change SSH Port and create multiple port SSH Linux

Default port for SSH is port 22, for security reason sometimes we need to change port for SSH to another port or maybe for some reason, system administrator need add more port for SSH access. The following steps will explain how this can be done.

SSH configuration located at /etc/ssh/, and file that holds current SSH setting can be found at /etc/ssh/sshd_config.

The path you take will depend on whether you want to allow users to have their own in some circumstances or to restrict all accounts on the server to the global php.ini file at /usr/local/lib/php.ini location.

I have experience with primary hard disk failed on my Cpanel Server, and i asked datacenter to reloaded OS in a new Hard Disk and mounted old Hard Disk as secondary for copying data back to new hard disk.

To copy data from failure hdd first, you must mount old hdd
