CDMA 2000 1x Network Elemens

a. Mobile Station (MS) / Access Terminal (AT)
MS get  voice and data connection with requesting a radio channel from the Access Network (AN). Once formed, the MS is responsible for maintaining radio channel and perform packet buffer when the radio channel is not available. When ignited, MS automatically register to the Home Location Register (HLR) for autentication process that aims to know the location of the last MS. After the registration process is completed, the MS is ready to communicate both voice and data communications. There are two kinds of terminals are fixed terminals and portable / handheld terminals. MS also serves to authorization and accounting required by the AAA

b. Base Transceiver Station (BTS)
BTS is an important part of the cell site, which serves to allocate frequencies and power and Walsh codes to be used by the user. BTS has the physical equipment used to transmit radio and receive signals to the user’s CDMA2000 and vice versa. Some functions

d. Authentication, Authorization, Accounting (AAA)
AAA authentication process, authorization, and accounting for packet data network using the Remote Access Dial-in User Service (RADIUS) protocol. AAA servers communicate with the PDSN over IP and perform the following functions:

  1. Authentication is connected with the connection Point to Point Protocol (PPP) and IP.
  2. Authorisation for the profile service, distribution, security, and management accounting.

e. Trunk Switching Center (TSC)
Used to process call signaling and trunk as a medium channeling trunk call. TSC can be connected with a lot of Packet Control Function (PCF). PCF used to establish, maintain and dissolve relationships with the PDSN. PCF communicates with the RRC to request and set the radio channel to deliver packets to and from MS. PCF is also responsible for collecting accounting information and forward it to the PDSN. Radio Resource Control (RRC) to support the MS authorization to gain access radio, air interface encryption support in the MSC (Mobile Switching Center).

f. iGateway Bill (iGWB)
Serves to collect, store, filter, condense and bill.

g. Group and List Management Server (GLMS)
Used to store information about: trunk group, subscriber trunk service, and a Virtual Private Network (VPN)

h. Mobile Switching Center (MSC),
MSC or often also referred to as the interface between Base Station Controller (BSC) with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) data djaringan Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) via a gateway MSC (G-MSC), has some usefulness as follows:

  1. Set up communications between mobile subscriber with a subscriber network Other telecommunications.
  2. To coordinate the setting-up and outgoing calls from mobile users.
  3. Is central to cellular radio systems.
  4. Manage calls either originating or terminating calls.
  5. Responsible for set-up, routing, accounting information, control and call termination.

i. Visitor Location Register (VLR)

j. Service Switching Point (SSP)
SSP is used to detect intelligent demand service, to communicate with the Service Control Point (SCP) and respond to requests for service / service from the SCP. k. Intelligent Peripheral (IP)

l. Home Location Register (HLR) / Authentication Center (AC).
HLR is a database that contains the management of MS that stores all user data such as location of the user, and shared secret data (SSD) for all users. HLR is the Authentication center (AUC) and the central repository of Electronic Serial Numbers (The ESN) for each user who has to register. AC is used to control the information needed to authenticate the MS are connected to the HLR with authentication algorithm to execute, generate SSD, and perform authentication bug fixes.

m. Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN)
PDSN is a new component to be a liaison between mobile and IP networks, allowing the data access can be done by MS. Contained in CDMA2000 based cellular system that aims to support packet data service and established a number of key functions in terms of packaging data, among others:

  1. Establish, manage, and eliminate the PPP session with the user
  2. Simple package supports Internet Protocol (S-IP) and mobile IP (M-IP).
  3. Send packets to and from external data packet network.
  4. Conducting the process of Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) to the mobile station client to the AAA server.
  5. Collecting usage data that is connected with the AAA server and receives the parameters of a user profile that contains the types of services and security

n. Home Agent (HA)
HA allows the MS to conduct relations with the Internet which HA serves as a MS tools to access the Internet. HA plays a role in implementation of the protocol mobile / Simple IP with forward packets – packets to PDSN and vice versa. HA provides security with authenticate the MS via the IP registration. HA also maintain relationships with AAA to receive information about the user. HA supports data roaming nendukung with 1xRTT network that supports mobile and forwards all traffic to the network the right to be sent to the handset and was responsible for the registration process, transfer purposes (traffic) to the PDSN. In addition, the home agent also serves to track the location of MS at the same time check whether the data packet has been forwarded to the MS.

o. Gateway Mobile Switching Center (GMSC)

GMSC request routing information from a user calls and provides a relationship / termination on the network.

p. Short Message Service Center (SMSC)
SMSC is responsible for the delivery, storage and filing a brief message

q. Service Maintenance Terminal (SMT)
SMT provides VPN manager and operator to manage the data from the user such as location / area of MS is located, and a group of MS.

r. iManager M2000 (M2000)
M2000 is a convergence settings for Huawei Mobile Network and support functions – functions as follows: concentration of a fault management, performance management, configuration management, security management and system management
