SUN OS based on UNIX, but has different structure with another linux system. For example in Linux, you can easily check CPU & Memory info using /proc/cpuinfo and /proc/meminfo, or you can check hardware information using lspci or dmidecode.

And how in SunOS?

You can use prtdiag to check hardware information in you SUN Machine.

root@server # /usr/platform/sun4u/sbin/prtdiag -v

System Configuration: Sun Microsystems  sun4u Sun Fire V240
System clock frequency: 167 MHZ
Memory size: 8GB

==================================== CPUs ====================================
E$          CPU                    CPU
CPU  Freq      Size        Implementation         Mask    Status      Location
---  --------  ----------  ---------------------  -----   ------      --------
0    1503 MHz  1MB         SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIIi    3.4    on-line     MB/P0
1    1503 MHz  1MB         SUNW,UltraSPARC-IIIi    3.4    on-line     MB/P1

...

or if you only want to know about CPU’s info in your machine

root@server # psrinfo -v
Status of virtual processor 0 as of: 09/26/2012 10:54:31
on-line since 08/25/2010 14:24:41.
The sparcv9 processor operates at 1503 MHz,
and has a sparcv9 floating point processor.
Status of virtual processor 1 as of: 09/26/2012 10:54:31
on-line since 08/25/2010 14:24:39.
The sparcv9 processor operates at 1503 MHz,
and has a sparcv9 floating point processor.
